2014.04.26-安平老屋速寫 (Sketch of old house in Anping)

為了準備展覽的作品，上禮拜我重遊了安平的小巷弄，而每一次的速寫散步都會有不一樣的驚喜。這張作品的主角是一棟由兩百年老屋所改建的咖啡屋 "舊烘爐"，斑駁的磚瓦似乎在述說著歷史的痕跡。這裡和大家分享這幅速寫的作畫過程。

In order to preparing sketch works for exhibition, I revisited Anping last week (Anping is a district in Tainan City). There is always surprising in the old lanes of Anping. The subject of my work is a 200-year-old house in traditional Min Nan Style (Min Nan is in south China ). Now this old house becomes a cafe called "Jiu-Hong-Lu". In this article, I am going to share the whole painting process. 

2014.04.11-新加坡老屋速寫 (Old building sketch in Singapore)

這裡分享了前陣子在新加坡速寫的作畫過程。像畫中這樣漂亮的洋樓在新加坡的市區裡是隨處可見的，歷史的痕跡依舊殘留在現代化的大都市內，讓我不禁停下腳步，將所見所聞用筆好好的記錄了下來。

In this article, I share the painting process of work sketched in Singapore last week. This kind of beautiful old western style building is ubiquitous in downtown of Singapore. The vestiges of history still remain in this modern metropolis, which let me stop my footstep to record the street view with painting.

速寫攜帶用具(Other tools)

關於水彩速寫 (About Watercolor)
可於美術社購買便攜式的調色盤，裡頭已經附有固體顏料，且有些還會附水筆，買來就能夠立即使用。調色盤的上蓋可以充當畫板，因此只需要單手便能夠同時拿住調色盤與畫本，如下圖所示，方便速寫時站著畫畫，不用另外找可以擺放調色盤的地方，相當的便利。此外，可直接以管裝的水彩顏料補充用完的顏色。

I use portable pallet with me in trip. This handy tool  let me be able to hold the sketchbook and pallet simultaneously. Therefore, I can just stand and sketch at any place without too much limits.

速寫畫筆和寫生簿(Pens and notebooks)

速寫本的選擇 (Selection of Notebook)

市面上的速寫本種類繁多，使用的紙張材質都各不相同。為了因應各種不同的畫法需要挑選適當的畫本。根據經驗，挑選較厚的紙張可避免上色後紙因為吸水而變皺，適合用作水彩速寫。此外也須考量到上色後的質感表現，以達到符合自己預期的效果。目前我使用兩種速寫本，分別用於麥克筆與水彩速寫。下面將紙張特性與價格一一列出

I select the notebooks according to their papers. Different paper causes different painting effect. On my own experience, thick paper can withstand the wrinkles after absorbing water, and it's suitable to be used in watercolor painting. In addition, the texture of paper also need to be considered.  Currently, I use 2 kinds of notebooks.

速寫本 A (專門用於麥可筆速寫)  Sketchbook A (for markers)

為50頁的水彩速寫本，尺寸約22X15cm。由於查不出廠牌，因此這種速寫本可能只有在台南的大漢美術社才有賣。吸水性還不錯，相當適合拿來作麥克筆速寫的使用。不過用來畫水彩反而不適合，原因為紙張厚度不足，很容易起皺，且因為乾燥速度太快，無法使用太複雜的技巧。

The size is 22X15 cm, and there are 50 pages. I don' know its brand, and it's probably sold in Tainan. But because the thickness of paper is not enough, it isn't suitable for watercolor.  

2013.12.08- 小巷 (Lane)

１ 先完成基本的輪廓，不需要過份的描繪細節，此時需要注意的兩邊牆壁在畫面裡所佔的比例。此外，為了讓構圖富有變化，我修改了左下角陰影的形狀。
Draw the outline loosely, but don't add too many details. At this stage, we have to notice the proportions of left and right walls. Besides, I change the shape of shadow on the down left for the variety of the composition.

This is the painting process of portrait I wrote five years ago.At the time, I just started my watercolor self-learning journey. Even thought the style of this work is rigid, I think it should be still helpful for the beginners. Hopefully, everybody can make a big progress!
